Sandvik, Cubex sign agreement for underground drills
Canadian-based underground mining equipment manufacturer Cubex Ltd has entered into a global dealer agreement - including the Australia Pacific Region - with Sandvik Mining and Construction.
Under this agreement, which is effective from January 1st this year, Sandvik will market, distribute and support Cubex’s underground mining product line - including all underground drills, booster/compressors packages, ancillary support components, and water pump systems - in global markets, excluding Canada and the state of Nevada in the USA.
Founded in 1972, Cubex is a leading developer and manufacturer of ITH/DTH (in-the-hole/down-the-hole) drilling products. The company has been actively involved in the design and manufacturing of equipment, supplying capital equipment and contracting of services to the mining industry around the world.
According to Kitch Wilson, president of Cubex Ltd, this dealer agreement with Sandvik represents a significant step in its on-going business strategy in the underground mining sector to provide complete customer solutions and better customer service.
“The combination creates an industry-leading global underground drilling equipment partnership with best-in-class products and superior distribution platform,” he said.
“With this new dealer agreement, Cubex will now have the opportunity to fully reach the global underground mining market and offer complete in-the-hole drilling solutions.
“This announcement reaffirms our commitment to meet the demands for long-hole drilling applications with world class products and services,” said Wilson.
Rowan Melrose, president of Sandvik Mining and Construction - region Australia Pacific, said the dealer agreement between the two companies would provide significant benefits for both organisations and their customers.
“Sandvik has had a gap in our offering for machines with the capability of drilling greater than 50 metres,” he said.
“Cubex, with its ITH production drills, fills this gap and enlarges the stable of products we can offer.”
“This relationship with Cubex opens up another avenue for Sandvik to offer a complete package in production drilling for both ITH and DTH drills,” said Melrose.
“The win for Cubex is Sandvik’s global supply and support network coverage.
“Both organisations are highly respected, well-established companies in the mining industry, with proven track records – so this relationship is a perfect match for each of us.”
